AI could replace middle managers, says Jack Dorsey as Block cuts 40% of staff
Jack Dorsey, Twitter founder and CEO of Block, says AI can take over middle management roles, after his company cut over 4,000 employees. He sees this as a shift toward a new AI-driven workplace, not a sign of trouble.
Block reduced its workforce by over 40%, with Dorsey calling it a strategic move toward AI
He explained that managers mainly pass information, which AI can now handle using a real-time business model
Employees now fit into three roles: builders, problem owners, and player-coaches who guide others
This shows how companies may rethink structure, using AI to remove layers and move faster. But it also raises questions about trust, as not everyone will feel ready to replace human managers with AI systems.

A new report reveals an internal OpenAI project called Project Stagecraft, where up to 4,000 freelancers are paid at least $50 per hour to create detailed training data based on real professional work across different fields.
